Not the bug as such, but I wanted to introduce a TSFE->xhtml_version 
property. So that the Core and extensions can generate appropriate output.

PS: is a bug filed for the problem that [ is not allowed in ids? This is a 
problem with form accesibility ("label" with attribute "for").
