tt_news doesn't need the general storage records for news (and for 
categories, it can be disabled as well, see 
http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/tt_news/Users_manual-f8d2e666f6/#oodoc_part_6308)

Simply select the proper sysfolder as starting point in the tt_news 
plugin and you are done.
