Yup. I'm slowly thinking around packaged solution for virtual hosting,
that is, supportable/upgradeable packages -- RPMs for me but could just
as well be e.g. debs -- with scripts to allow vhost creation and
population with packaged web software -- say "get me phpldapadmin on
this vhost and typo3 on every vhost on the system".
So far, TYPO3 is one of two (sic!) mature applications that support this
design by their own one ("static" shared part and per-vhost modifiable
individual ones), so the whole thing didn't really take off yet.
