[Typo3-dev] consolidation of FE and BE user data - status?

hi!
i remember (but can't actually find) a little discussion here in the list 
about consolidating FE and BE user information data, i.e. combining and 
enhancing user information as well as adding some missing fields (namely 
sex, first name, last name etc.).

so my question: are there any plans to combine or merge those 2 user tables?
