I needed this some time ago and solved it with an external shell script 
& image magick. Which features have you got implemented ?

- Delay in ms between frames ?
- scaling, croping
- output-format selection (anim gif, mpeg, ..)
- can you use it with other features of the GIFBUILDER (like 
painting/overlaying in each frame) ?
- have you an examples online ?
