It would really be great if TYPO3 had the option to use SMTP
authentication/sending for Login/Install Notifications, contact form mails
and all mails it sends in general. This would be especially noticeable on
servers running PHP as CGI under suPHP or phpSuExec, where the sender in
mail logs wouldnt be displayed as userapacherunningas at server.domain (as is
surrently when sending backend login/install notifications) but would send
using true mail account, and in addition it would enable installations using
shared source to exactly log into maillogs which account is sending mail.

phpBB and many more scripts have such a feature and it works great.
