[Typo3-dev] ArgoUML and PHP generation

Hi!

Well, I use Eclipse every day for a couple of years for Java development but
I do not see advantages to use UML for typo3 _development_. Probably it
would be good idea to describe typo3 core classes using UML diagrams but I
would not recommend to generate code using UML tools. My experience shows
only disadvantages of automatic code generation...

May be ArgoUML generates code much better than MagicDraw and Rational Rose
but I still would not generate the code with UML tools. Usually they are not
too intilegent, reverse engineering is pretty bad, formatting is hard to
customize, etc. I.e. makes more problems then solutions.

As to other UML tools, there is also Eclipse Modelling Framework, which is
Eclipse subproject. Nice thing to try.

Btw, there was a free TruStudio, which is based on Eclipse and had a PHP
debugger. I did not try it but it may be useful for others. Eclipse is a
very easy, nice and convinient IDE. And everything based on the Eclipse
inherits its power. Eclipse is supported by IBM and IBM's WebSphere Studio
is based on Eclipse.

Eclipse is definitely a brilliant piece of open source software!

Dmitry.
