Nice idea! However keep note that there is a Wiki extension in development,
it will probably do what you're aiming for...

What you propose is a new content type just like tables or text elements.
Have a look at class.tslib_content.php and some extensions that provide
content elements, e.g. th_exttable [1] sounds like something quite
similar...
