Neither "versioning" or "sys_history" was created with wiki-activity in
mind. This means that *might* be "capacity problems". If there are it
will put unwanted pressure on me when someone says "TYPO3 runs slow, I'm
using this or that wiki" and the response is "... but its your own fault
because that extension mis-uses the system"

As we all know it often doesn't depend on good reasons; if it is
perceived as a problem for someone its likely to BE a problem for us
developers if we like it or not.

THEREFORE: Develop a "proprietary" versioning mechanism that is 100%
optimized for the wiki and works for that purpose only.

if you choose otherwise I will refuse to accept the responsibility of
prioritizing enhancements of "versioning" or "sys_history" just because
you or someone else uses it for purposes it was not meant for.
Unnecessary pressure. I have tons of that already and it is really hard
to manage.
