I still agree with Kasper, because if the DAM module is about to replace 
  the file module, the existing gallery plugins who store categories and 
meta data in another way, are the ones who will be seen as "inventing 
another wheel" in the future. There isn't much of a plugin required to 
just use what DAM has already put into typo3 (as Daniel Thomas was on 
about).
