Profiling (was: [Typo3-dev] New Memory Requirement for Extensions)

I've tried to install xdebug thorugh pear, without succes so far
(actually I managed to break mysql support in my php4 yesterday, I
have no idea what's wrong, that's not related directly to pear or
xdebug though).

Does anybody have experience with xdebug or APD?
