Let me clarify. There is no problem with symlinks to directories, they can
remain there.

phpsuexec will not run a .php file that is a symlink. There are only a few
of them, and if they are converted to hardlinks they work.

I'm only pointing this out to share what I found out, and because maybe an
installation with symlinks and hardlinks could be an alternative to the ZIP
version.

So you may have a mix of symlinks to directories and hardlinks to a few php
files.

I was able to pass through this barrier this way, but I still have to work
around the php_sapi_name() check problem.
