It is, we just stumbled across it with DBAL. It can be worked around
with the mapping features, but... I am almost sure there is no way
around this in Oracle, I didn't find any on the web.

No problem. I still dislike Oracle, buf after working on DBAL the last
weeks I now dislike MySQL, too (in a lot of ways). :)
