They should, based on the new concept of flexforms. Please see inside the documentation for newloginbox.

if for some reason your PHP version cannot parse the XML setups then I would like to know about your PHP versions. Any screenshot from the content element with the newloginbox plugin set up?

Make sure to clear all cache, including the TEMP_cached.... files in typo3conf/
