Could you summarize to what conclusions (if any) you came in those
dicussions? Or what reasons you found that made mirroring impossible?

As far as I can tell (without knowing about the actual setup of the T3
server), a combination of rsync and MySQL replication should make it
possible to sync a 'master' machine to a few 'clients'. This should
even (except for the initial sync) be relatively harmless in terms of
traffic.


What puzzles me more is, how to switch to another mirror, if one is
down? Round-robin DNS is good (well, better than nothing) for load
balancing, but it can't do failover.

And since we are talking about remote machines being then mirrors
here, just having a hardware box before the two (or more) actual
servers is not an option.

Any ideas? I have thought this more than once, but never came to a
solution that is transparent from the end-user perspective...
