It won't be a big job, now that the core is fully ready for DBAL with
the next release. There will be a DBAL extension along with that
release. Chances are, that it will just work with SQLite. Or not. :)

I'll have a look, maybe, if I have the time. But as has been pointed
out, there aren't any killer advantages over MySQL that put this high
up on the agenda.
