of course it reflects TCA but it gave a short "huh?" while checking the 
fields.
I will take a look at the API functions and then try to incorporate 
those in my patch.
By the way - we cross tested the patch and it works now.
But more or less some sort of "patch here, patch there - here we go" 
solution.
