[Typo3-dev] Typo3 H/W Requirements

I have to recommend the hardware configuration for a project which involves setting up of two Typo3 based sites on a single machine. Also I have to justify the config (by memory consumption, HDD access etc). There will be seperate Typo3 installations for each site. Simultaneous hits are expected to be up to 450-500 during certain times of the month. Can anybody suggest the recommended hardware configuration (CPU, RAM, HDD etc) and the reason for the same the since the Typo3 site only gives the minimum configuration and that too without any explanation.
Any help will be appreciated.
