For the purpose of general clarification:

As of 3.7.0 it did run with so far only minor issues unresolved. However
achieving PHP5-compliance has not been of high priority so far and usage is
not recommended for production systems.

As for the aforementioned interfacing of TYPO3 with PHP-170, there are no
decisions on how and when to implement any kind of compliant API yet.
Evaluation has only just begun as Kasper's mail demonstrates.

That is good news, but also very early on in the process.
