You have either used 3.6.0-CVS or probably something like 
3.6.0RC2_backup220404.tgz.

There was no RC2 out yet that didn't have the _backupXXXXXX suffix.

But there WAS an RC1 without that suffix: 
http://130.228.0.33/t3dl/src/typo3_src-3.6.0RC1.tgz

Anyway, I agree that it is confusing and it might be more wise to name 
the new version RC3.
