What I did was to report it as a bug, it was refused. Which is in one
way fair because it is in the list of things that have been changed,
but it just doesn't make sense.
The answer was a standard reply saying that I should find a better
place to ask for help.
And a comment 'So dont do it'.
The bug status was changed to 'bogus'.

What I will do, and I don't think we should spam anybody before we
have tried this, is to ask on the php list how checking for
types/existence in multidim arrays should be done in PHP5, since the
behaviour has changed. After all that's one of the ways he suggested
to get help.
Actually I already did this on the php.dev list, but it doesn't seem
as if my posting has arrived.
