I think the problem is not the authors. It is mostly "us" (as a
community) who wants this review.

This makes very much sense. It's my favourite already. Should I
implement these things before 3.6.0 ... :-)

Its quite easy selecting on a single flag.

You seem to consider version 4.0.0 in the light of the *current* policy.
So you argue: 3.3 - 3.5 - 3.6/4.0
I argue (all the time): Lets get OUT of this too humble cycle of going
3.3 to 3.6 of three years. Lets increment on the FIRST digit instead,
not the second.

In terms of marketing we don't have to justify 4.0 in the light of the
history. We just have to say "... and yes, btw. we have determined to
move version numbers on the first digit from now one. Therefore 3.6 came
out as 4.0"


BTW: How is DAM progressing?
