please don't, we are not microsoft or ibm.
an open source project should be clear in versioning and not confuse
users with strange names (think e.g. about mozilla, moving step by step
forward, but still sticking at 1.7b).

version 4.x seems to be adequate and is additionally good for marketing
purposes etc... and, as you said, it will make more clear, that the name
is typo3 (version 4.x) and not typo4.
