[Typo3-dev] Recommended Procedure using PHP 4.3.x

In http://typo3.org/1422+M54defb70332.0.html, the recommended way of getting PHP
4.3.x to work with typo is a replacement of the non-ORIG variables with

ORIG_PATH_TRANSLATED
ORIG_PATH_INFO
ORIG_SCRIPT_NAME
ORIG_SCRIPT_FILENAME

This works for me (Window), but I am rather unhappy about it, because the
changes are rather distributed among several files.

Is there no better way? I cannot switch back to earlier versions of PHP. At
least, could this be centralized in one point?
