[Typo3-dev] HOWTO for CVS version

Hi all!
I've searched the archive of the dev-list but coudn't find anything. Is
there anything like a howto telling me what components I need to use the
CVS version. I tried it the naive way, just exchanging the typo3_src link
of a TYPO3 stable install and created the links like the CVSreadme told
me but that only produced errors.
The background:
I don't have the time to read a lot about TYPO3 but in reaction to bug
reports I sent to bugs at typo3, Kasper told me that he'd fixed these bugs in
CVS. As he could not test it, I wanted to do that for him. However, as
long as I can't get the CVS version running, I can't test it, either. So
what else do I have to check out/do to make it work? Is there a HOWTO, I
just haven't found?
