[Typo3-dev] merging extensions?

depending on the motivition it sounds very smart to me, while it might
impose some problems in maintaining and upgrading.

It doesn't make that much sense to me if it is two completly
different extensions just extending the same base-class.

Probably you should get in touch with the authors or tell us what you
are thinking about more specific.
