In a welldefined way. I even made a "Upgrade" tool with a one-click
upgrade button which fixes everything and - thats it.

Generally, I never break obvious compatibility UNLESS I state it very
carefully and document clear steps to re-gain it. ANd usually you see me
gather a lot of this in batches. It means; most releases of TYPO3 is
justa click in the install tool (like with new_login_box, people are
just confused or ignorant in that case) while a few (2?) releases in
history of TYPO3 has required walking through a check-list to fix
things.

The problem is not the version of TYPO3. All my old sites runs on the
latest TYPO3 version. The problem is if suddenly the logic making my
shop-templaes work does not work anymore. That is the kind of thing and
this is what I require!


As for extension dependencies on TYPO3 versions there will soon be an
adequate solution which makes our sorrows go away.
