[Typo3-dev] RTE API question

Hi!

As far as I read the code in 3.5 the RTE was tightly coupled to pages. 
For a form creating wizard (gsi_wizard_crform) I use a hack to simulate 
a page context to trick the RTE into believing it's on a saved (!) page.

Has this behaviour been changed? If not, is there a chance that somebody 
works on it before 3.6?

Page independent RTE would be cool for wizard in the BE like in the 
example above, but I guess it be rather nice for the FE as well.

I think this question has been asked before, but where to find docs (or 
the code) for the RTE API?
