[Typo3-dev] inserting data in more than one table at the same time

Hi,

I am building an extension, where data
is split up in several tables.

If I were to build an update page it
would seem reasonable to create one
page which updates several pages in
one submit-click. 

I Just dont know how to do this in
TYPO3. As far as I know I have to 
update the tables one at a time, 
first create categories, and then
when creating the "main record" I
can choose the category from the
relation.

How do I update all tables on the
same from the same page ? is that
possible ?
