[Typo3-dev] no copy of files

Hi folks,

i searched all archives but i couldnt find anything about that:
im currently workin on an extension that links really large files to
pages (~4 MB each and 20+ files are linked per page on average).
this will (or better: might) lead to hell of a lot used (in this case:
waisted) webspace.

how can i configure typo or $tca[...]['type']='group' to just track the
location and name of the given file where it is and to not copy it to
uploads/something ?
