Take a look at

it might be usable for you, sorry for the lacking documentation. Take a
look at http://www.nordictechforum.com/329.0.html to see it in action.
The idea is that you create an event and connect a number of typo3-pages
to it, that will be listed in the top menu. It's also possible to
connect sponsors tp sepcific events.
