just a suggestion for the filebase:
rsync through a ssh-tunnel is secure and fast solution (rsync only transfers
differences between files/filetrees, so the traffic will include only the
changes between 2 filetrees...)
setup via cron job can provide regular updates...

afaik rsync & ssh is although available on windows via cygwin, but
i've got only experiences with the unix-version.
