Hi Mathias,

Have you tried it already? I am using Ubuntu now on some systems as I think it 
is a much friendlier desktop system then Debian. The good part is you can use 
Debian repositories too. Especially pages like www.ubuntuguide.org are very 
helpful and practical whereas Debian has more of a technical approach. The 
installer also recognizes more hardware like wireless devices and graphical 
cards than Debian. Maybe with the Breezy Badger release (10/2005) even my father 
could use it!

While writing this email I installed TYPO3 with the installer on sunsite and 
added 3.8.0 with wget in /var/lib/typo3/, adapted the symlink and everything 
seems to be running smooth. Read Georg Kuehnberger's little manual. That one is 
very helpful.
