Hello Michael,

the search engine should work fine with woody's php 4.1.2. That's true.
But Lars had some reason for using php 4.3.1 (and not woody's 4.1.2)
until now, i guess.
So if Lars is using another script, which depends on php 4.3.x - and
nowadays a lot of major scripts do that! - he will have to

- either use unofficial packages or even backports (frankly, i wouldn't
do so, but his admin obviously already used such sources)

- or upgrade to debian testing, which is 99,9% stable in my opinion (and
what i myself already happily use since now a year)

However, i can understand people not willing to upgrade a complete,
running system "just" because of a php version.

I still urged Lars in my post before, to please consider and use
official sources first.

In the end it is just his and his admin's decission. However, you are
absolutely right - and Lars will understand this -, that when people use
unofficial packages our support possibilities are nearly cut off,
because the first obvious reason for strange problems mostly are those
packages.

:)

Best Regards and nice wishes from Tuebingen to Lausen! :)

Alexander
