hm. i use spamassassin backport from
deb http://people.debian.org/~duncf/debian/ stable main
and this one works with woody debconf. no conflicts at all.

what happens, if you first install the debconf package from woody? 
(don't forget to comment out the backports.org line in sources.list and 
do apt-get update)
then try again to install spamassassin.
