[Typo3-debian] installation problems

Hello all, I have just installed typo3-env on a new debian box, and run
typo3-site-installer, comented out the necessary in
/var/lib/typo3/typo3_src-3.5.0/typo3/install/index.php, when i goto the
installs location i get this message:

Install Tool is not loaded as an extension.
You must add the key 'install' to the list of installed extensions in
localconf.php, TYPO3_CONF_VARS[EXT][extList].
***

So I added this line to localconf of that install:
***$TYPO3_CONF_VARS["EXT"]["extList"]='install';***

Which didnt work for me, still getting the above error... has anyone else
experienced this?
